My fitness journey

My first gym membership was at age 12. My mom bought my sibling and I gym memberships. As I grew older I joined LA fitness and went to the gym and working out remained a way of life. Weight training was my first love. I never was a runner, not really a sports person , I either played tennis recreationally or swam in a pool for fun, basketball in elementary school, mom signed me up for ballet but I had 2 left feet, ha ha ha. As an adult I took belly dance classes which I really enjoyed as I learned my cultural dance from a pro.

As I grew older in my early 20s, I witnessed people close to me fall apart at the early age of late 60s. It scared me, I didnt want it to happen to me. My workouts became less about looking good and more about being healthy and staying healthy. My moto is: “if I can feel good mentally and physically and also look good wow then that’s a plus” Eating well is so important too. I’ve always loved growing organic food and cooking them. I grew up on a Mediterranean diet. It’s so yummy and good for you too. I limit my sugar and avoid food that doesn’t fuel my body. I want my body that operate in its optimal state. As I grew into fitness, I found my first fitness job at Total Woman in Irvine, California. I also worked at that same spa in a different location in Placentia California. My goal became to steer away from the doctors visits for things I can control through my food and exercise. Exercise to me is a natural medicine that wards away sickness along with aches and pains. I love reading about fitness and educating myself continually in the area of fitness and nutrition. As an adult I mostly practice pilates almost everyday along with surfing. I need to keep fit to look forward to enjoy my senior years. I hope to inspire my students through my love of fitness so they can become healthy and stay healthy to ward of sickness and inspire them to make it a way of life for them. That's my fitness journey.
